Benjamin Baldonero Cusi Choquecondo

Peruvian Visual Artist | Painter | Sculptor

Born on March 31, 1979, in the small Andean town of Tuti, near Chivay in the Colca Canyon region of Arequipa, Benjamín Cusi is a self-taught Peruvian artist whose creative journey was shaped by resilience and imagination. Despite a challenging childhood, he found refuge in art from the age of six, turning to drawing and painting as a source of peace and self-expression.

By seventeen, Cusi had fully embraced art as his life’s calling. Without formal academic training, he began building his career independently, exhibiting and selling his works across Puerto Maldonado, Cusco, Arequipa, Lima, and internationally in Brazil — notably in Rio Branco and Rio de Janeiro.

His body of work spans oil on canvas, watercolor, murals, and cement sculptures reinforced with iron. Deeply inspired by nature, the universe, and the mysteries of the cosmos, Cusi’s style leans toward imaginative surrealism, blending the spiritual and the natural worlds in vivid harmony. Each piece carries a message — a reflection of his personal philosophy and the lessons life has taught him.

Art for Benjamín is more than a profession; it is both his lifelong refuge and his daily devotion. His works invite viewers to share in his journey — a fusion of experience, endurance, and wonder.

Previously signing his works under the name “Kevin Cusi” (after his son), he now signs as “Art_Benjamin”, marking a new phase of authenticity and personal evolution in his artistic identity.

Benjamín continues to create from his home studio in Peru, dedicated to sharing his vision of life, nature, and the cosmos with art lovers around the world.
